Clemson back enters draft

January 19, 2016

Clemson RB added to draft list … It appears that Clemson junior RB Zak Brooks has applied to the NFL and will be eligible for the 2016 draft, although he does not appear to have made a formal declaration as of now. In fact, Brooks shows up on several other lists of underclassmen entering the upcoming draft. While technically a redshirt junior after missing the 2014 season with a foot injury, Brooks, who has already graduated, chose to be listed as a senior with the intention of giving the NFL a shot this winter. And if that doesn’t work out, Brooks plans to go to graduate school and eventually open his own interior design business. In that context we are hoping that Brooks get asked ‘granite or quartz?’ when interviewed by NFL teams at pre-draft testing. For the record, Brooks, who is considered to be a marginal draft prospect, is 6-0, 200 and averaged 5.7 yards a carry as the Tigers’ primary back-up RB this fall. The inclusion of Brooks brings our unofficial list of underclassmen who are known, or believed, to have entered the 2016 draft to what would be a record 106. However, underclassmen who have not signed with an agent have until the end of business on Thursday to withdraw their draft applications.
