UGA LB to portal, out of draft; other college moves … Georgia LB Jumon Dumas-Johnson, who had been considered to be one of the better prospects at the position for the 2024 draft, instead has announced that he will be putting his name into the transfer portal. Dumon-Johnson was a consensus All-American in 2022 and entered the current season rated as potentially the top-rated backer in the class, but didn’t have the same kind of impact this fall; he also had some off-field issues so he’ll be looking for a fresh start. Elsewhere, former Mississippi State QB Will Rogers, who announced earlier this month that he would be transferring rather than entering the upcoming draft, has committed to Washington where he’ll be replacing Michael Penix. Better news for State’s cross-state SEC rival Mississippi, though, as former Florida DE Princely Umanmielen, a rising edge rusher who had 7 sacks this past season, has committed to the Rebels. And sticking with the SEC for a moment, it was a good news, bad news day for Tennessee as veteran C Cooper Mays confirmed that he’ll be returning to school next fall, but star RB Jaylin Wright won’t as he is entering the draft.
