Bears win; back to top pick … Chicago managed to hang on an edge Carolina 16-13 last night when a long Panthers’ FG attempt fell short in the game’s final minute. That lifted the Bears record to 3-7 which drops them down to the #5 spot in this week’s 2024 draft selection order with the NY Giants and New England both moving up a spot to the 3rd and 4th picks respectively. The better news for Chicago, though, is that with the loss Carolina drops to 1-8, tying them with Arizona for the worst record in the league. And because the Panthers have a weaker SOS than Arizona Chicago, which owns Carolina’s #1 pick courtesy of a 2023 draft trade, will move into the top pick slot, at least for a couple of days. For the record, Arizona plays Atlanta on Sunday, although the Cardinals will finally have QB Kyler Murray back in uniform as he has been cleared to play following a long a rehab from a torn ACL suffered late last season. We don’t normally revise the updated selection order after the Thursday night games, but in this case where the #1 pick has changed hands, at least temporarily, we have here.
