Giants lose QB for year; likely set sites on one at draft

Giants confirm QB for year; likely set sites on one at draft … Just a quick update on this story as the Giants have confirmed that QB Daniel Jones did indeed tear an ACL on a non-contact play at the end of the first quarter of yesterday’s game with Las Vegas and will miss the rest of the year. And that will almost assuredly have the 2-7 Giants, who are currently sitting on the 4th pick in this week’s first-round selection order for the 2024 draft, looking at the position this coming April. Indeed. the Giants may have already been been taking more than a peek that way anyway as GM Joe Schoen was at the Washington-USC shoot-out on Saturday evening which of course featured the Trojans’ Caleb Williams, the consensus favorite to be the #1 pick this year and UW’s Michael Penix, who leads the country in passing this fall. The Giants also reportedly had senior people at Drake Maye’s game in North Carolina this weekend. And tanking won’t be that hard for the Giants whose primary backup QB – Tyrod Taylor – currently on injured reserve and their only other options right now are undrafted rookie free agent Tommy DeVito and veteran journeyman reserve Matt Barkley who is on their practice squad. Ouch!
