Bears win; still edge closer to top pick as meek almost do inherit the earth

Bears win; still edge closer to top pick as meek almost do inherit the earth … We still can’t say exactly how it is all going to have played out come Tuesday morning, but it was a strange day in the NFL wars as four of the 5 one-win teams all won their games today. Chicago, for example, crushed Las Vegas, New England shocked Buffalo, and the Giants held off Washington in early games, while Denver edged Green Bay in a late afternoon contest. The only one-win team to lose today was Arizona which dropped to 1-6 as a result of a loss in Seattle. And what we can say for sure at this point is that Chicago will again be sitting on the #1 pick in the weekly selection order as Carolina, the league’s last remaining winless team whose pick the Bears own as a result of a 2023 draft trade, had its bye this week. At the same time, Arizona will sit second as the league’s only one-win team, while Chicago will drop a spot to #3 with their own pick. Everything after that, though, is still to be decided by this week’s prime time games. In particular, a loss by Minnesota against San Francisco on Monday night would leave the Vikings sitting at #4, at least for the week; however, obviously if the Vikings can upset the 49ers they would drop down. As usual, the full, weekly selection order for the opening round of this year’s draft will be updated after the Monday night game.
