Draft race goes prime time … It probably isn’t exactly what the NFL schedule makers had in mind when they scheduled Denver to play at Kansas City on this week’s Thursday night prime time game, but what we’ll get is the AFC’s worst team in the Broncos, who would have the 3rd pick in the 2024 draft were it to be held this week, facing arguably the conference’s best in the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs. Perhaps the only drama is whether Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will be able to put 70 up on the Broncos as Miami, the AFC’s other 4-1 team did a couple of weeks ago, or maybe whether the other half of the Travis and Taylor Travelling Road Side Show will play as KC TE Travis Kelce is questionable with an ankle injury. However, while tonight’s result isn’t likely to alter the current draft landscape, the early selection order for the upcoming draft will get a shakeup of sorts this weekend as Chicago, which currently sits on both the first (Carolina’s) and second (the Bears’ own) picks, will play at Minnesota, which owns the 4th pick, at least for the week, on Sunday afternoon.
