Dolphins, Chiefs in pre-cut trades … There were a couple of minor trades announced overnight as teams look to get down to today’s 53-man opening day roster limit. In one, Miami sent veteran back-up C/G Dan Freeney to Chicago in exchange for a 6th round pick in 2024. At the same time, Kansas City sent WR Ihmer Smith-Marsette to Carolina in a conditional trade that involves a swap of 7th round picks in 2025. Smith-Marsette was originally a 5th round pick by Chicago in 2021 and spent most of the 2022 season on the Chiefs’ practice squad.
