Irish/Middies KO off college campaign … While the NFL wraps up its pre-season schedule this weekend, there will be actual college games later today, although the full college schedule does not really start until next week. And today’s games do feature a couple of ranked teams including #13 Notre Dame which plays Navy in Dublin, Ireland. Note that this game kicks off at 2:20 PM ET on NBC; until recently that game had been listed as a Noon start. The other ranked team playing today is #6 Southern California which hosts San Jose State at 8 PM ET on the Pac-12 network in what looks like more of a warm-up game rather than a real test for Caleb Williams and the rest of the Trojans. Meanwhile, we are also hoping to catch some of the Ohio-San Diego State game at 7 PM ET this evening on FS1 to check out the progress of Bobcat QB Kurtis Rourke, one of the better sleeper type QBs for the 2024 draft. Rourke, the brother of Nathan Rourke, another former Bobcat QB who is currently trying out with Jacksonville and who set the NFL abuzz earlier this month with the play of the pre-season year. Rourke, a 6-5 Canadian with a big arm, was having a terrific year with Ohio last fall and very likely would have transferred to a Power 5 school, but he tore an ACL late in the season and opted to stay with the Bobcats.
