Colts make it 3-for-3 for top rook QBs to start … Indianapolis confirmed earlier today that they will be starting rookie Anthony Richardson, the 4th player selected at the 2023 draft, when the Colts open their pre-season schedule Saturday afternoon in Buffalo. Richardson has been splitting first -team snaps with veteran Gardner Minshew through the first part of training camp. Richardson is the third QB picked with a top 5 selection this past April as Bryce Young, the #1 pick overall, will open for Carolina when they host the NY Jets on saturday afternoon, while Houston’s J.T. Stroud is in action as we speak as the Texans are playing in New England. Update: With his night apparently done at the end of the first half, Stroud had something of a rough start to his pro career as he completed 2 of 4 passes for 13 yards, but had one picked and was also sacked once for a loss of 15 yards. In his defence, though, was under intense pressure from the get-go.
