Top draft class post follow-up … We received several queries today asking if the ranking of 2024 draft classes that was posted last evening is the equivalent of our pre-season college ranking. The simple answer is No; what we posted yesterday simply ranked the various draft classes around the country based solely on the quality of their prospects for next spring’s draft. Needless to say, though, they would be very similar. Indeed, if we had a vote for a straight-up top 15 say, we’d have Michigan at #1 and Southern California at #2 followed by Georgia at #3, Ohio State at #4 and Alabama at #5, although truth be told it’s very close between those teams. In the end, we give a slight edge to Michigan and USC because, at least for now, they now have established QBs, while the other three are all breaking in new guys. At the same time, we’d have Florida State at #6, followed by Washington, LSU, Penn State and Clemson rounding out the top 10 with Oregon, Tennessee, TCU, Miami and Texas filling in spots 11-15. And just for the record, the 5 teams that just missed include Utah, Kansas State, Mississippi, Oklahoma and North Carolina. But again we stress that its very close and there a lot of teams with at least some potential to make into this year’s 4-team CFP playoff.
