Supp draft back on after 3-year absence … Multiple sources are reporting that after a 3-year absence, the NFL will be holding a supplemental draft this summer on July 11th. Th league last held a supp draft in 2019. The league has also reportedly confirmed that former Purdue WR Milton Wright will be available in this summer’s supplemental draft. Wright was declared academically ineligible last summer and did not play last fall; its not clear why he did not enter the 2023 regular draft, although he may have been trying to regain his eligibility but failed. Wright is a decent prospect who had 57 receptions for over 700 yards in 2021. A former 4-star recruit out of high school, he’s listed at 6-2, 195. For players to be considered for the supplemental draft they must been out of high school at least three years and be ineligible for the upcoming collegiate season for one reason or another. Of course, players must also formally request to be included, though there’s no guarantee of NFL approval. If any team is interested in a player in the supplemental draft they submit a bid for the round in which they would take the player; if their bid is successful, they forfeit their pick in that round in the following draft.
