Safety 40 times posted

Official safety 40 times posted … For the record, the official 4o times for the safeties from this afternoon have now been released and generally the same as the unofficial numbers with the exception of several players whose time was ultimately altered by a  0.01. And unlike the corner grouping early today where it sometimes felt that while they were holding a combine work out, that a track meet broke out, there wasn’t a whole lot to get excited about the safety clockings, In the end, several safeties did get under 4.5-flat, including Pitt’s Brandon Hill (4.43), Cal’s Daniel Scott (4.45), Jordan Howden (4.49) of Minnesota and the Illinois duo of Jartavius Martin (4.46) and Sydney Brown (4.47). However, none of those guys is generally considered to be in the top tier of safeties. Among the more highly rated safeties, Antonio Johnson of Texas A&M ran okay with a 4.52 clocking, but the others including Jammie Robinson of Florida State (4.59), Georgia’s Chris Smith ($.62) and Brandon Joseph of Notre Dame (4.62) and Penn State’s Ji’Ayir Brown (4.65) were somewhat slower.
