UM DT Smith takes plea; to keep playing … Michiagn DT Mazi Smith, a second-day prospect for the 2023 draft, has reportedly agreed to plead guilty to a reduced charge of misdemeanor weapons possession charge stemming from a traffic stop early in October. Smith was originally charged with a felony weapons charge of possessing a concealed weapon without a permit. Smith reportedly had registered the weapon, but had only applied for the concealed weapon permit. Smith will be sentenced – likely to a diversionary program – on December 29th, two days before the Wolverines are scheduled to play TCU in a CFP semi-final in the Fiesta Bowl. However, he’ll be in uniform as he wasn’t suspended for the initial offense.
