Hernia surgery for top WR prospect … Baylor junior WR Corey Coleman will miss the Bears’ bowl game later this month as he is scheduled to undergo surgery for a sports hernia on Monday. Coleman, who has already indicated that he will be entering the 2016 draft where he is projected to be a mid-to-late first round prospect, was this year’s winner of the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top receiver after making 74 catches for almost 1,400 and 20 TDs, the top figure in the country. By having the surgery now, Colemen hopes to be available to participate in this year’s combine in Indianapolis at the end of February. Colemen, though, is only one of several Baylor stars who will miss the Bears’ December 29th date with North Carolina in the Russell Athletic Bowl as QB Jarrett Stidham had already been ruled out because of a broken ankle, while star junior RB Shock Linwood is also out after undergoing surgery for a broken foot last week. Linwood, who ran for 1,300 yards this fall, had also been considered to be a possibility to enter the upcoming draft, but this may keep him in school for a final year. Meanwhile, star Baylor junior DT Andrew Billings has confirmed that he won’t make a final decision on entering the upcoming draft until after the bowl; he has also stated he will only enter the draft if the NFL’s special draft advisory committee gives him a high first-round evaluation.
