Initial selection order posted … As promised with week 5 of the NFL season in the books, the initial ‘if the draft were held today’ selection for the opening round of the 2023 draft has been posted here. Just a couple of notes. First, there will actually only be 31 first-round picks this year as Miami has forfeited their #1 for violating the league’s tampering rules. The Dolphins, though, will have an opening round pick as the have the 49ers selection courtesy of an earlier trade. Also note that the final positioning of teams picking 19 thru 31 will only be determined by their final playoff positioning. And in a side note re the current playoff positioning, hands up everyone who had BOTH New York teams in the playoffs 5 weeks into the season in their pre-season pools!
