Niners resign QB Garoppolo … In a major surprise, it appears that San Francisco QB Jimmy Garoppolo isn’t going anywhere, at least in the short term as he has reportedly renegotiated his deal with 49ers for this year. Garoppolo had been scheduled to make almost $25M with the 49ers this year, although that money was not guaranteed. Instead, he agreed to stay for $6.5M guaranteed, but with incentives. The deal also includes a no-trade clause as well as a guarantee from the team that they would not franchise him next year. Despite the no-trade clause, the 49ers could ultimately trade Garopollo this year if he waived the clause which in effect gives him control over where he would go if traded. The whole arrangement also gives Garoppolo, who only recently started to throw after undergoing off-season shoulder surgery, a little more time to rehab the injury.
