Panthers out of Watson derby … Carolina has reportedly been informed this evening that they are no longer being considered as a possible landing place for Houston QB Deshaun Watson. And with Cleveland having been eliminated earlier today, that leaves just Atlanta and New Orleans in the running unless there is a surprise late entry to the bidding. While the Saints have been the favorite from day one, it appears that Atlanta is still very much in the mix. Watson, is actually from what is an essentially an Atlanta suburb. More to the point, the Falcons reportedly have deferred a $7.5M contract bonus incumbent starter Matt Ryan was due tomorrow until Tuesday that if met would have made it almost impossible to get Watson under their cap. It is also interesting in the sense that Ryan would have had to agree to the extension. Word is that Watson wants to take the weekend to think about his decision. Stay tuned!
