Thursday morning round-up

March 10, 2022

Thursday morning pro day round-up … It will be a relatively quiet day on the pro day schedule today with only a handful of on-campus workouts on the docket, although there are workouts at Texas and Indiana among others. There could also be a relatively decent crowd at today’s workout at Tulsa tp get another look at OT Tyler Smith, a rising prospect at the position who had a strong combine. In fact, though, most of the top prospects at those schools worked out at the combine. Same story for the busy pro day schedule yesterday which didn’t feature any real prominent prospects working out. There had been some expectation that Arkansas WR Treylon Burks might run the 40 again after a somewhat disappointing 4.55 clocking at the combine, but asked about it yesterday, Burks said “All I can say is go watch film and see if I’ve been caught with that 40 time.” Burks, though, did participate in the Hogs’ passing drills in front of scouts from 30 of the 32 NFL teams in attendance. We should also note that Wisconsin LB Leo Chenal added to his growing resume by posting 34 reps in the BP. Chenal, who posted a 4.53 40 and 40.5-inch vertical at the combine, also had some very quick shuttle times at the Badgers’ pro day; however, it appears that every Badger who did the agility drills was posting very quick times so we’re not quite sure what to make of them. Indeed, several Badgers including FS Scott Nelson, CB Faion Hicks and WR Kendric Pryor, none of whom were at the combine, all had 40 times – at least those reported by the school – of under 4.4 seconds, although it does appear that the UW times may have been as much a tenth fast. at the same time, though, Nelson did have a very impressive 39.5-inch vertical, while Pryor and Hicks’ weren’t far behind at 38.5 and 37.5 inches respectively.
