OL combine weigh-in update

March 4, 2022

OL combine weigh-in update … It doesn’t appear as if there will be any big surprises among the offensive linemen as they get weighed and measured at the scouting combine in Indianapolis this morning. Alabama OT Evan Neal, though, is actually a little ‘slimmer’ than anticipated as he weighed in at 337 pounds, down from his listed playing weight of 350, while at 6-7.5 he’s also slightly taller than projected. For the record, he’s also got 34-inch arms, which aren’t huge, but certainly are long enough to check the box off. At the same time, NC State G/T Ickey Ekwonu measured in at 6-4, 310 and also with 34-inch arms. That’s good for him as there were concerns that he would be a little shorter than that which might take him out of the OT conversation. Same for Charles Cross of Mississippi State, who measured in at 6-4.5, slightly below his listed height of 6-5, but he has 34.5-inch arms. In fact, the one really notable figure so far this morning, at least as it impacts the consensus top OL prospects, is the fact that Iowa C Tyler Linderbaum, who did measure in about as expected at 6-2, 296, but has very short arms at barely 31 inches. That won’t be as big an issue inside as it would for an OT, but it is still something NFL teams will have to consider.
