Giants GM ‘gits while the gittin’s good!’ … NY Giants G.M. Dave Gettleman announced his retirement just a few minutes ago. Presumably, the Giants gave Gettleman, a long-time good soldier, the option of retiring rather than being fired. Gettleman has been the giants G.M. the past four years after a short stint at Carolina, but he’s over 70 and has not always been in the best health the past couple of seasons. The Giants long-term plan had apparently been for Assistant G.M. Kevin Abrams, the team’s long-time cap specialist to take over from within, but there will be a ton of pressure on the organization to look outside for some fresh ideas.
