Test for Tua in Monday nighter … Should be an entertaining Monday night game later this evening when Miami plays at New Orleans in what is for all intents and purposes an elimination game for both teams. Both are 7-7 and on the cusp of playoff qualification, but need a win tonight to stay there. It would certainly remarkable if the Dolphins were to make the playoffs after they started the season 1-7, but have rallied behind QB Tua Tagovailoa and won 6 straight. And that may very well have the Dolphins rethinking the position heading forward. Recall that THE story of first half of the season in the NFL was whether the Dolphins would pull the trigger and trade with Houston to acquire DeShaun Watson. Indeed, given how well Tagovailoa and the Dolphins are playing these days, one has to wonder whether Miami would still be willing to even consider giving up the massive package of picks – including as many as three first-rounders – that the Texans were asking for Watson. Time will tell; however, if the Dolphins were to drop out of the bidding for Watson, its also not hard to imagine that there wouldn’t be other suitors for Watson’s services, especially if he resolves his legal issues, although it’s also hard to imagine many teams being willing to meet the Texans’ current demands. In fact, there have been some whispers around the league that Philadelphia, which has three first rounders this year, could very well be interested, as might Washington, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Carolina and Detroit. And that doesn’t include contending teams like Cleveland, Minnesota, Seattle and Las Vegas, each of which may feel they can’t reach their goal of a Super Bowl with their current guy. Stay tuned! We’re just getting started here!
