Texans to start rook QB for stretch run

Texans to start rook QB for stretch run … The Houston Texans, who are still very much in the running to come away with the #1 pick overall at the 2022 draft, announced earlier today that rookie Davis Mills will start the rest of the season. Mills replaces veteran Tyrod Taylor who has been ineffective since returning from an injury three weeks ago. Mills, a 3rd round pick this past spring from Stanford, has played okay to date completing 66% of his pass attempts including 7 TD passes against 8 picks, but is still 0-6 in games he’s started. Whether the Texans ultimately end up with the top pick – they currently sit behind Detroit and Jacksonville with the 3rd pick – could be decided in the next couple of weeks as they host 4-8 Seattle on Sunday and then play at the 2-10 Jaguars next weekend.
