Colts pass Wentz mark; #1 to Eagles

December 6, 2021

Colts pass Wentz mark; #1 to Eagles … The second round pick in 2022 that Philadelphia received from Indianapolis in exchange for QB Carson Wentz to Indianapolis in a trade last year was conditional upon Wentz’ playing time. In essence, the pick would escalate to a first rounder if the oft-injured Wentz participated in 75% of the Colts offensive snaps this year. While nothing is official at this point, the Colts played their 13th game of the season yesterday which is over 75% of their full 17-game season and Wentz has played just about every snap. As a result, when we update this week’s first-round selection order were the draft to be held this week, the Colts’ pick will be designated as having been traded to the Eagles  which gives Philadelphia 3 first rounders this year as they also have Miami’s pick as a result of a pre-draft trade last spring. That’s the good news for the Eagles. The bad, such as it is, is that all three teams have been playing well and it is very possible that none of the three picks will ultimately be in the top 10.
