Lions don’t lose; still hang onto top pick

November 14, 2021

Lions hang tough; still lose and hang onto top pick … The Detroit Lions, the NFL’s last remaining winless team, didn’t lose today, but they didn’t either as they battled to a 16-16 OT tie in rainy Pittsburgh. As a result, the Lions record goes to 0-8-1 and means that they will hold onto the top pick in the opening round selection order for the 2022 draft were it to be held this week for at least another week. There’s no change at #2 with 1-8 Houston on its bye, but with Washington shocking Tampa Bay, the NY Jets will move back up to #3, followed by Jacksonville at #4, and Philadelphia, with Miami’s pick, rounding out the top 5. Unfortunately, Washington’s upset win over the defending Super Bowl champion Buccaneers came at a cost as WFT’s star DE Chase Young, the first player selected at the 2020 draft, suffered what is believed to be a season-ending torn ACL.
