Eagles send vet QB Flacco to Jets for late pick

Eagles send vet QB Flacco to Jets for late pick … With rookie Zack Wilson sidelined for up to a month, the NY Jets added some experience at the position by acquiring veteran QB Joe Flacco from Philadelphia in exchange for a conditional 6th round pick in 2022 that could escalate to a #5 based on the player’s playing time.  Wilson, who sprained a PCL in yesterday’s loss in New England, is officially out for the next 2-4 weeks and the Jets have only journeyman Mike White in reserve. Flacco actually played with the Jets last year and even if he doesn’t see much action could give Wilson an experienced mentor. Meanwhile, the Eagles have reportedly been looking to promote former Jacksonville starter Gardner Minshew to the primary back-up role behind Jalen Hurts. One also wouldn’t put it past the Eagles to be looking to fortify the Jets in any way they can with the 2021 draft in mind. Philadelphia owns Miami’s first-round pick this year and currently the Dolphins have the second worst SOS figure of all the one win teams, while the Jets have the worst. It probably also hasn’t escaped the Eagles attention that the Jets and Dolphins still have to play both their AFC East games against each other later this fall. Anything the Eagles can do to help the Jets can only strengthen their draft hand; same for anything that weakens the Dolphins. Stay tuned; the draft is only 186 days away!!
