Second cuts looming … Jacksonville and New Orleans are set to wrap up the second full week of pre-season games later this evening at 7:30 PM ET on the NFL Network. And then it will be on to the next round of cuts as all teams will have to be down to the 80-man roster limit by the end of business Tuesday afternoon. Of course, the big cut though comes after the third week of the pre-season as everybody has to be down to the 53-man opening day roster by 4 PM ET on August 31st. In fact, teams have been announcing some or all of their first round of cuts over the past couple of days after their second pre-season game, although not surprisingly, almost all of the players who have either been released to date or who will be released by tomorrow’s deadline will be fringe players who weren’t going to make the team anyway.
