Lions name Rams’ exec as as new G.M. … The NFL Network is reporting at this hour that Detroit has hired Brad Holmes, the LA Rams’ director of college scouting as the team’s new general manager. Holmes replaces Bob Quinn who was fired earlier this fall. Like a lot of other new G.M.s this winter, Holmes first task will be to decide whether the Lions continue to try and build their roster around QB Matt Stafford, who remains one of the NFL’s better passers, but turns 33 later this year, or move on starting with the 7th pick in this April’s draft.
