Lawrence declares!!! … No big surprise here as Clemson junior QB Trevor Lawrence has announced that in fact he will be entering the 2021 draft where he is expected to be the first player selected. Lawrence had been a little coy about his future plans during the past season when he hinted that he hadn’t decided what he was going to do. That set off speculation that he might balk at entering the draft rather than be selected the New York Jets who it appeared would have the top pick for much of the season. However, the Jets won a couple of games late in the season which allowed Jacksonville to slip up into the #1 pick. Elsewhere, Tennessee lost junior CB Bryce Thompson, a 3rd day prospect who had 8 career interceptions, to this year’s draft, but get back OG Cade Mays who announced that he’ll be returning to school next fall. At the same time, Stanford redshirt junior WR Connor Wedington, another 3rd day candidate, also announced that he will be entering the upcoming draft.
