Hurney out as Panthers’ GM

December 21, 2020

Hurney out as Panthers GM … And a very Merry Christmas to you too! Carolina announced this morning that G.M. Marty Hurney has been fired. Hurney was in his second stint as the Panthers’ general manager. He had the job from 2002 to 2012 and then returned in 2017 after Dave Gettleman was dismissed. No immediate word on a successor, but it is expected that head coach Matt Ruhle will play a bigger role in the team’s football operations. The Panthers are 4-10 and would have the 4th pick overall overall if the 2021 draft were held this week.
