Minshew, Hurts take over at QB

December 14, 2020

The ‘stash is back in Jax; Eagles not feeling any pain in NFL QB moves … Jacksonville will reportedly go back to Gardner Minshew at QB with three games left on the schedule. Minshew was the Jaguars starter at the outset of the season, but spent the last six weeks on the sidelines after suffering an injury in mid-October. Minshew was replaced by journeyman Mike Glennon who kept the job even after Minshew had recovered. In fact, two weeks ago, Minshew literally begged coach Doug Marrone to play him. Minshew got his wish on Sunday during the Jaguars’ dismal loss to Tennessee, and everything else being equal, is expected to finish the season. The Jaguars are currently 1-12 and will almost assuredly have one of the top two picks at the 2021 draft where they are expected to take one of this year’s outstanding young QB prospects such as Trevor Lawrence of Clemson or Ohio State’s Justin Fields. Meanwhile, Philadelphia has confirmed that rookie second-round pick Jalen Hurts will start in place of Carson Wentz for the forseeable future. Hurts led the Eagles to a shocking upset of New Orleans on Sunday after replacing Wentz who has struggled mightily this fall.
