Lions fire GM Quinn, coach Patricia

Lions fire GM Quinn, coach Patricia … Less than 48 hours after a depressing home loss on Thanksgiving Day, Detroit pulled to plug on G.M. Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will take over heading coach duties on an interim basis, while front-office executives Kyle O’Brien, Mike Disner, Rob Lohman and Lance Newmark will share general manager duties for the rest of the season under the direction of team president Rod Wood. The Lions hired Patricia after the 2017, but Detroit was never close to making the playoffs in any of his three seasons. This year, the Lions are 4-7 and would have a top ten pick were the draft held today for the third straight year. No word on what this might mean for the status of QB Matt Stafford, but if the Lions ultimately opt for a full rebuild he might very well become available in a trade.
