Jags finally move DE Ngakoue; to Vikes for picks … The long-running soap opera of star DE Yannick Ngakoue in Jacksonville is finally over as ESPN is reporting that the Jaguars have agreed to send the disgruntled player to Minnesota for a couple of draft picks. In the deal, Jacksonville will receive the Vikings’ 2nd-round pick in 2021 along with a conditional 5th round pick in 2022 that could escalate to as high as a 3rd rounder. The pick would become a 4th rounder if Ngakoue makes the Pro Bowl and a 3rd if Ngakoue makes the Pro Bowl AND the Vikings win the Super Bowl. In order for the deal to be completed, Ngakoue has to sign his franchise tag and the Vikings will need to restructure some of their other contracts to fit him under their salary cap. Ngakoue will also have to pass a physical with the Vikings, although that is not expected to be a problem. With the Vikings, Ngakoue is expected to combine with rising star Danielle Hunter to give Minnesota a pretty dynamic edge rush. Last fall, for example, Hunter had 14.5 sacks, while Ngakoue had 8. Meanwhile, with the addition of the Vikings’ second round pick, Jacksonville now has a second pick in each of the first two rounds of the 2021 draft as they had earlier acquired the LA Rams’ #1 pick in a trade for DB Jalen Ramsey.
