SC DT, Wake WR opt out to enter draft … A couple of more juniors with first round potential indicated today that they have decided not to play for their respective schools this year and instead will begin prep for the 2021 draft. Wake Forest WR Sage Surratt, who made some All-America teams last fall despite missing several games with a shoulder injury, along with Southern California DT Jay Tufele have both announced via twitter they have begun preparing for the upcoming draft and won’t play college football this year. The 6-3, 215-pound Surratt, who seriously considered entering the 2020 draft before opting to return to school, had 66 receptions for over 1,000 yards last fall in just 9 games, while the 6-3, 315-pound Tufele was a first-team interior defensive lineman for the Trojans. Both have at least some late first round potential for next spring’s draft. It is also interesting to note that Surratt is the brother of North Carolina LB Chazz Surratt, a very athletic former QB who is also one of the really intriguing prospects for the next draft, although there is no indication to date that he will be following suit.
