JR 67s sweep final series; win title … We apologize if we have seemed a tad distracted of late as we have been a little pre-occupied as oldest grandson Zach Gaul and his Ottawa JR 67s mates have been deep in their playoff run. Last night, the JR 67s, with pesky winger Carson McGurn scoring twice and grandson Zach solid in nets, beat their bitter rivals from Ottawa Myers 4-1 to sweep series in four straight and win the Eastern Ontario Minor Bantam AAA title. The win capped a really rather amazing run for the JR 67s who have not lost a game in 2020. Indeed, since losing the opening game of the Toronto Marlboros Christmas tournament back on December 27th – a tournament they went on to win – the JR 67s finished the year on a 29-game winning streak. Congratulations to coach Jim Cooke, captain Will Hughes and the rest of the boys who now get to relax through March break for the first time in years. Then its on to spring hockey with tryouts for 2020-2021 set to start in 62 days. It never ends up here!
