Redskins keep intrigue alive at #2 … Its the 2020 draft story that doesn’t appear to be going anywhere for awhile at least. And that’s that Washington is seriously considering selecting a QB – most likely Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa – with the 2nd pick overall at this year’s draft rather than Ohio State DE Chase Young. The story started to grow legs prior to the combine, but got a little livelier with published reports that new Redskins’ head coach Ron Rivera told Tagovailoa during the team’s interview with him at the combine last week that they planned to bring the former Tide star in “to compete with Dwayne Haskins,” whom Washington selected in the opening round last year. Of course, the Redskins could also be just blowing some smoke trying to drum up some interest in trading the pick, but that interest is almost certainly going to be there anyway. It also doesn’t appear to be much of a secret that Rivera and the rest of the new Washington football ops brain trust aren’t totally sold on Haskins as a potential franchise QB. And if the Reskins did take a QB over Young it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that Detroit, which picks 3rd, would likely do cartwheels to the podium.
