Vols may get one OL back; lose one … There is a report out of Tennessee that 5th year C Brandon Kennedy plans to appeal to the NCAA for a 6th season of eligibility next fall. Kennedy was originally a 5-star recruit at Alabama before transferring to Tennessee two years ago. He would be eligible for the 6th season as he missed two full seasons with injuries. The 6-3, 305-pound Kennedy has been one of the bright spots for the Vols this season starting every game to date. Speaking of bright spots at Tennessee, junior G/T Trey Smith is expected to enter the 2020 draft. The 6-6, 325-pound Smith looked all the part of a future NFL first rounder when he started every game for the Vols at LT as a true freshman in 2017, but his football future was clouded when he only played in 7 games the following year because of blood clots in his lungs. However, Smith was finally cleared to play just before the start of this year’s campaign and he has played very well at LG this fall. Obviously, though, Smith will have to be thoroughly checked out during medical tests prior to the draft.
