Broncos QB Lock, Pats WR Harry, two other picks go on late IR … As expected, Denver placed rookie QB Drew Lock on injured reserve earlier today after he had made the Broncos’ original 53-man roster. Lock, the Broncos’ second round pick at the 2019 draft, sprained the thumb on his throwing hand in Denver’s third preseason game at Seattle last month. As a result of the roster move, Lock will not be allowed to practice for at least six weeks and cannot play for at least eight weeks. In fact, Lock wasn’t going to play much anyway behind Joe Flacco, but not being able to practice likely won’t advance his development much. Same story for New England WR N’Keal Harry, the Patriots’ opening round pick this past April who was also placed on IR earlier today, ostensibly because of an ankle injury. Meanwhile, a couple of 2019 4th rounders also went on late IR with Detroit placing DE Austin Bryant on the list because of an arm/shoulder injury, while Oakland IRed safety Isaiah Johnson with a head injury.
