WR Brown NOT traded to Bills

March 8, 2019

WR Brown NOT traded to Bills … There were reports late last night that Pittsburgh was on the verge of trading disgruntled WR Antonio Brown to Buffalo. This morning Bills’ G.M. Brandon Beane confirmed that Buffalo had had talks with the Steelers about Brown but that nothing had developed and that the Bills have ‘moved on.’ According to other sources, any deal between the Steelers and Bills fell through because Brown simply didn’t want to play in Buffalo. There have been other reports that Pittsburgh had set today as the deadline for any deal involving Brown, one of the best players in the league, but one who comes with more than his share of headaches, but that a number of teams had withdrawn from trade talks in the last few days because the asking price, which likely includes first round draft picks, was too high, especially given that Brown is already 31 and comes with a $15M cap hit in 2019. For their part, the Steelers have denied that there was a Friday deadline for a deal, but have indicated that any trade likely would happen before the start of the league year next Wednesday as Brown is owed a $2.5M roster bonus due next weekend. As of now, though, it appears that the club may not have many options left.
