49ers, Raiders to coach Senior Bowl

December 31, 2018

49ers, Raiders to coach Senior Bowl sides … San Francisco and Oakland, the highest two teams in the draft order with intact coaching staffs, have reportedly agreed to coach the two teams at the Senior Bowl. The 49ers will pick second overall in the upcoming draft, while the Raiders will pick 4th. Arizona, which will pick first overall and would normally have had first dibs on coaching in Mobile, fired head coach Steve Wilks and his staff earlier today, as did the NY Jets, which will pick 3rd. It should be a particularly interesting week for Raiders’ head coach Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock, the team’s new G.M., as in addition to the 4th pick, they have two more selections in the latter part of the opening round having acquired the first round picks of both Dallas and Chicago in big trades earlier this season. It will also be interesting watching Mayock make the switch from TV analyst covering the Senior Bowl to an actual participant. This year’s Senior Bowl is scheduled for the week of January 22nd thru the 26th in Mobile. And as usual, we’ll be on the ground in Mobile with GBN Associate Editor Pigskin Paul Guillemette reporting on all the developments from Mobile. Stay tuned!
