Who’s who at Ducks’ pro day… updated … Updating the earlier report on who attended today’s pro day at Oregon, turns out that Cleveland was represented in that Marcus Mariota’s workout was run by Browns’ QB coach Kevin O’Connell, who spent 6 weeks preparing prepping Mariota for the draft earlier this winter. However, neither Browns’ GM Ray Farmer nor head coach Mike Pettine were in attendance, but are expected to hold a private workout with Mariota prior to the draft. That is the same process the Browns followed last year when they skipped Johnny Manziel’s pro day but ended up taking him after a private workout. Otherwise, it was pretty much a full house at the Oregon pro day earlier today where all 32 NFL teams were at least represented. However, the crowd also included 5 NFL GMs, clearly the most of any pro day to date. and most were there to see Mariota who according to the early reports threw the ball and looked comfortable working under center. The GMs in atendance included Jason Licht of Tampa Bay, whose Bucs have the #1 pick this year, Tennessee’s Ruston Webster, Mike Maccagnan of the New York Jets, Scot McCloughan of Washington and John Schneider of Seattle. For the record, Tampa’s Licht was accompanied by director of player personnel Jon Robinson, while director of college scouting Rex Hogan was with the Jets Maccagnan. Tennessee, which has the second pick overall, though, had the largest contingent on hand including head coach Ken Whisenhunt. And back to Cleveland for a moment, there’s a real buzz around the team that they offered Philadelphia one of those two first round picks – the 12th and 19th – for QB Sam Bradford after the Eagles had acquired him from the Rams earlier in the week. Stay tuned!
