QB dominos falling into place … Free agent signings can’t be formally signed until 4 PM ET later today, but it appears as if all the QB signings are pretty much in place. As has been pretty much expected, Minnesota will formally sign former Washington QB Kirk Cousins to a mega-deal later this afternoon. And with Cousins in town the rest of the Vikings’ QB staff headed elsewhere with as Denver has reportedly agreed to terms with QB Case Keenum, the New York Jets will reportedly sign Teddy Bridgewater, while Arizona has agreed to terms with Sam Bradford. Each of the latter three deals are for relatively short-terms meaning they shouldn’t have that much impact on those respective teams plans for the draft. At the same time, though, Keenum, Bridgewater and Bradford have all enjoyed at least some measure of success at different times in their pro careers so those teams won’t necessarily have to force a pick at the position early in the 2018 draft. That may be particularly impactful for Denver and the Jets, who pick 5th and 6th respectively this coming April, but could very well miss out on this year’s top three QBs in Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen and Josh Allen who, it is looking more and more likely, could go 1-2-3 on April 26th. Unless, they would be comfortable taking Baker Mayfield as a consolation prize, the Broncos and Jets likely would have to move up several spots to get one of the top three guys. And that could be expensive. Meanwhile, its interesting to note that Buffalo, which is believed to be arming itself for a possible move up to get one of those top three QBs – still haven’t signed any veteran depth at QB after trading former starting QB Tyrod Taylor to Cleveland earlier this month. As we say, stay tuned!
