Mixed results in TE runs … Southern Illinois TE MyCole Pruitt led the way when the TEs ran the 40 earlier this afternoon when the former Saluki clocked a fast 4.58 clocking. In fact, Pruitt, along with South Alabama’s Wes Sexton, who had a 4.65 time, were the only two TEs to run under 4.75 seconds today. Meanwhile, there were somewhat mixed results for Maxx Williams of Minnesota’s and Miami’s Clive Walford who are considered to be the two top-rated guys at the position. Williams clocked in at 4.78 seconds, which is faster than the 4.85 that some analysts were predicting, but is that going to be fast enough for his to sneak up closer to the opening round. In contrast, most teams were expecting something considerably faster from Walford who is a receiving specialist who really doesn’t block much and there are going to be concerns whether that will be fast enough to stretch defenses on a consistent basis at the next level. At the same time, it was a decidedly disappointing day for Florida State’s Nick O’Leary who barely broke the 4.95 mark. Meanwhile, both Jesse James of Penn State and UMass’ Jean Sifrin, who has emerged as a bit of a story as he didn’t play for 5 years for family reasons, both posted somewhat ‘meh’ times just under 4.85 seconds.
