Clock ticking for underclassmen … The deadline for underclassmen to file paperwork with the NFL in order to be eligible for the 2017 draft comes up at 4 PM ET on Monday afternoon. In fact, the large majority of players expected to enter this year’s draft have already indicated in one way or another that they will be turning pro this winter. Indeed, by our unofficial count, 93 juniors and redshirt sophomores have indicated that they will be entering this year’s draft. However, there are still a number of players that the NFL is still waiting to hear from, the most prominent of whom if Southern California CB Adoree Jackson. Once today’s deadline has passed, players who did apply for early entry to the draft, have a 72-hour window of opportunity to withdraw their applications if they have not signed with an agent or otherwise received any improper benefits. And then once that window closes the NFL will announce the official list of underclassmen who will be eligible for the 2017 draft.
