Selection order for first three rounds

January 2, 2017

Selection order for first three rounds posted … With the 2016 NFL regular schedule now in the books, the selection order for the first three rounds of the 2017 draft as it stands today has been posted. The first 20 picks in each of the first three rounds are now set – sort of – while the picks for the playoff teams will be determined by results from the post-season. Note that the ‘sort of’ refers to the fact that there will be a coin flip for the 14th and 15th picks held by Philadelphia with Minnesota’s pick and Indianapolis. In fact, Minnesota and Indianapolis actually played during the regular schedule – a 34-6 win by the Colts in week 15 – however, tiebreakers only apply within a division or conference and since the two teams play in different conferences tie-breakers do not apply. Coin flips generally occur during the scouting combine at the end of February. Of course, there may also be compensatory picks awarded at the end of the third round.
