College injury updates … There are a number of draft-related injuries of note in college football. Florida State senior SS Nate Andrews, a four-year starter who was once considered a top pro prospect, but who has battled assorted injuries throughout his career, is out for the rest of this year after undergoing surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle suffered in the Seminoles win over Miami on Saturday evening. Elsewhere, Minnesota QB Mitch Leidner, one of the top rated senior prospects at the position for this year’s draft, is not currently practicing after he suffered a concussion in last weekend’s loss to Iowa, although he never did leave that game. Miami junior QB Brad Kaaya is practicing this week and is expected to play this coming Saturday against North Carolina, but is not 100% because of a bruised throwing shoulder. Meanwhile, two of this year’s top RB prospects – LSU’s Len Fournette and Christian McCaffrey of Stanford – are both being listed as game-time decisions for their respective team’s games this weekend. Fournette has been dealing with an ankle injury issue since training camp and has not played or practiced at all the past couple of weeks, while McCaffrey is reportedly simply banged up from the pounding he has taken this so far this fall.
