Top 10 picks

October 11, 2016

Early line of top 10 picks for 2017 … With the NFL regular season now officially past the quarter pole, it is starting to become a little clearer as to which teams are in contention for early picks at the 2017 draft. Needless to say if the draft were held this week, Cleveland, the leagues only remaining winless team, would be sitting on the top pick overall. At least for this week, though, there is a crowd forming in line behind the Browns for the remaining top picks. Indeed, there are currently 8 teams with just one win including 6 teams at 1-4. And if the draft were held today Miami would have the second pick behind Cleveland followed by the NY Jets, San Diego, San Francisco, Carolina, Chicago, New Orleans and Jacksonville.  A couple of things to note however. First, if Cleveland ever were to win a game the Browns would actually drop down a significant number of spots as they have a very strong strength of schedule number; on the other hand, New Orleans, which is currently 8th in large part because the 1-3 Saints have had their bye and have one less loss than the other one-win teams other than Jacksonville, would move up into the 2-3-4 range if they lose their make-up game as they also have a relatively weak strength of schedule. Maybe it will all become a little clearer when we start posting the full updated weekly draft order next week. Hang in there!!
