SMU loses QB for year … The 2016 season of SMU QB Matt Davis ended almost before it started. The 5th year senior, a second-tier pro prospect threw for 2,300 yards and 16 scores while running for another 760 yards and 10 TDs last season, but tore an ACL in the Mustangs’ season-opening win over North Texas and underwent season-ending surgery. Davis, who has used his redshirt year, will appeal for a sixth year of eligibility in hopes of returning in 2017.
