LSU CB Stingley runs okay at pro day … LSU junior CB Derek Stingley reportedly ran what the NFL is calling an ‘official’ 4.44 40 at the Tigers’ pro day. That’s a little slower than some earlier reports which had him in the 4.35 range. The 4.44 clocking is still a good time, but probably a little slower than Stingley was hoping for. In comparison, Cincinnati’s Sauce Gardner, who is generally considered to be the top prospect at the position for the upcoming draft, ran a 4.41 at the combine. Stingley, though, was able to post a very athletic vertical leap of 38.5 inches, while his shuttle times of 4.19 seconds in the SS and 6.98 in the 3-cone drill were good but not necessarily great. All that means that Stingley, who did not work out at the combine as he was still rehabbing from a lisfranc foot injury, will remain as one of the polarizing prospects right thru the draft. As noted earlier,  Stingley had a terrific year as a true freshman in 2019, but hasn’t played much since because of injuries and has a top 5 talent, but there are concerns about his durability and intensity. For the record, all 32 teams had reps in Baton Rouge today including Pittsburgh GM Kevin Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin – who to be fair go everywhere – along with Washington GM Martin Mayhew and LA Chargers head coach Brandon Staley. The Steelers and Chargers also had their DB coach at the LSU pro day as did Detroit, Atlanta, Arizona, Philadelphia, Seattle and both New York teams.
