49ers name Lynch new G.M. … In a move that caught just about everybody off guard, San Francisco has named John Lynch as the team’s new general manager. Lynch, a perennial Pro Bowl safety with Tampa Bay and Denver, retired in 2008 and has been a Fox analyst since. He has no experience in management or scouting. Lynch will be part of a partnership with Kyle Shanahan who is expected to be named the 49ers new head coach any time soon.
