49ers confirm #2 pick being shopped … New San Francisco G.M. John Lynch left little doubt earlier today when he spoke with local media outlets after the team’s pro day workout for local prospects that the 49ers were listening to offers for the second overall pick at this year’s draft. According to Lynch, the 49ers are “open for business. We’ll listen to anything.” Lynch added that the 49ers in fact have talked with several teams about a possible move, but also indicated that nothing was all that imminent. With Cleveland expected to take Texas A&M DE Myles Garrett with the #1 pick overall, the draft really starts with the second pick. In a way, though, the 49ers interest in trading down is hardly a ringing endorsement of this year’s QB class. The 49ers need a QB as much as anybody in the league and would have their pick at #2. Indeed, the big issue for the 49ers if they do want to trade down will be to find a trading partner. Or more to the point, are there any players other than the QBs that other teams would be interested in moving up for. Maybe LSU RB Leonard Fournette or Stanford DE Solomon Thomas, but in the recent past, almost all moves up into the top 2-3 picks have been for a QB.
